CARES Act Grant for Sul Ross
Sul Ross State University received funds from:
- HEERF I (CARES Act) $889,996.00
- HEERF II (CRRSAA) $889,996.00
- HEERF III (ARP) $3,693,386.00
Totaling $5,473,378.00
The College has signed and returned the Certification and Agreement required by the Act and intends to use these funds to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to eligible students.
As of 03/04/22, Sul Ross has distributed $5,473,378.00 to students.
Sul Ross estimates that over 5,547 students are eligible to participate in the emergency funding opportunity for all 3 grant categories.
The total number of unduplicated students who have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant under the guidelines of HEERF I, II, and III, as of 03/04/22, is 3,060. The average award has been $800.00.
For HEERF II and III Sul Ross uses a method of student application and eligibility certification by its Financial Aid office to determine which students will receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants.
Each student receiving an Emergency Financial Aid Grant received the following notification and instruction from the Financial Aid office:
We have completed an evaluation of your application for SRSU Student
HEERF III. An activated award has been posted to your student account. The funds will be transferred to your bank account if direct deposit was set up in lobo-online or mailed to the address on file.
Money from the HEERF III is not considered financial assistance under
federal statue, nor Department of Education regulations. As such,
these funds will not impact your eligibility for regular financial
aid (e.g., grants, scholarships, loans).
If you owe an outstanding balance for tuition and fees to Sul Ross State University,
these funds will not be applied to that balance unless you submit written authorization.
