EDSR 6311

EDSR 6311 Emergent Literacy and Language Development (3-0). This advanced course is a requirement for the Master of Education Language and Literacy program. It is designed to provide students with and understanding of the components of reading and the strength and needs of individual students. This course will demonstrate how young children become literate, how language is acquired, and how competence in oral language supports the development of reading and writing. Attention will also be given to the critical role adults play in fostering the literacy development young children. Equivalent courses: EDUC 6311 (through Summer 2022), EDUA 6311
