Research

SRSU conducts and supports research via its research centers and institutes such as the Borderlands Institutes, the Rio Grande Research Center and the Center for Big Bend Studies; and through the research pursuits of SRSU faculty and students.

Developing research activity at Sul Ross is a key goal of the SRSU Strategic Plan: Strategies for the Second Century 2017-2022.

Goal1: Promote Growth in Academic, Research and Artistic Excellence

Objective 3: Support, improve, and recognize research and its impact on faculty development, and student engagement and learning

Two bodies ensure that research activities at SRSU are conducted with integrity and follow ethical and legal standards. The Institutional Review Board (IRB) reviews and approves research activity that requires the participation of human subjects. In addition, the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) reviews and approves proposed activities that will involve animals.
