Withdrawing is where a student wishes to drop ALL of their courses for the current or future semester. The student will drop to zero hours for the semester in which they are withdrawing and will no longer be enrolled with the university.
Student Responsibility
It is the Student’s Responsibility to ensure they submit the completed withdraw form to the Registrar’s Office by the correct deadline and follow the proper process to withdraw. Failure to follow the correct process may delay and/or prevent the student from being properly withdrawn from the university, and may have academic and financial repercussions.
Financial Responsibility
Prior to withdrawing from the university, there are financial aid and refund policies to consider. Depending on the date of the withdraw, students MAY BE financially responsible for a portion or all of the charges on their account. ***Financial Aid recipients are encouraged to contact 432.837.8050, option 5, to discuss withdrawing and effects on their Financial Aid.***
Students who receive financial aid and resign/withdraw from the University may be required to repay a portion of tuition based on the date of their withdrawal.
The withdrawal refund policy can be found on the Cashier’s web page or contact the Cashier’s Office at (432) 837-8047.
Academic Responsibility
Depending on the date of the withdraw, students MAY receive a grade of W on their academic transcript, therefore creating an academic record. To ensure a grade of W is not recorded on the academic transcript, students should withdraw prior to the start of the semester and/or prior to the census date for the term/semester they are withdrawing.
Withdrawal Process
Students wishing to withdraw (drop ALL classes) should consult with their assigned advisor before starting the withdraw process to determine alternate options, or potential consequences of withdrawing. Students who cannot meet their advisor in person, may schedule a virtual appointment. Please note, the withdrawal form must be completed and submitted to the Registrar’s Office by the deadlines below in order to officially withdraw from the university.
NOTIFICATION TO THE INSTRUCTOR OR SOMEONE OTHER THAN THE REGISTRAR’S OFFICE DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A WITHDRAWAL.
Withdrawal Deadlines
The completed withdraw form should be submitted to the Registrar’s Office by the deadlines listed below or those listed on the Academic Calendar.
