The 2024-2025 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is Now Available!
It is important to submit a renewed FAFSA every year as soon as possible!
- Payment Crediting:
- All loan payments are credited to student accounts in two parts. This ensures that funds are allocated efficiently and accurately.
- 30-Day Delay for First-Time Borrowers:
- First-time borrowers are subject to a 30-day delay before loan payments are credited to their accounts. This delay allows for processing and verification of borrower information.
- Online Requiements for First-Time Borrowers:
- For first-time borrowers, there are two essential requirements that can be completed online at studentaid.gov:
- Entrance Counseling: This session provides valuable information about loan responsibilities and repayment options.
- Master Promissory Note (MPN) – Loan Agreement: The MPN serves as a legally binding agreement between the borrower and the lender, outlining the terms and conditions of the loan.
- For first-time borrowers, there are two essential requirements that can be completed online at studentaid.gov:
- Parent PLUS Loan Borrowers:
- If you are a Parent PLUS loan borrower and your loan application is approved, you will need to submit a complete MPN. This step is necessary to finalize the loan agreement.
Awards can be viewed/accepted via your Student Dashboard.
Types of Aid Available:- Grants:
- Grants are funds provided by the government or the institution that do not require repayment.
- Scholarships:
- Scholarships are merit-based or need-based awards that do not require repayment.
- Work-Study:
- Work-study programs provide part-time employment opportunities to students with financial need.
- Student Loans:
- Student loans are borrowed funds that must be repaid with interest.
To view and accept your awards, log in to your student dashboard and navigate to the awards section. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact our financial aid office.
The SRSU Scholarship application is available every November for the following award year.
New Students: Apply by January 1st! Priority Deadline: February 15th!
Students notified via email if selected.
If awarded, you are required to submit a Thank You letter for each scholarship received.
The Department of Education will select random files to be manually reviewed by Financial Aid Staff.
Students selected for review will be notified via SRSU email.
Log into your Student Dashboard to view any missing information and to submit documentation.
Financial Aid funds are credited to student accounts by the first day of class each term.
Short-term emergency loans are available for students who need help paying the first 30% due if enrolled in the Sul Ross Installment Plan.
Short-term emergency book loans are also available.
(All emergency loans must be repaid by the end of term.)
