Hello, my name is Dr. Abbie Purney, DNP, RN, CCNS, CNE. I am excited to be your faculty for this course and support your growth as you progress in your educational goals.

I have been an RN for 31 years. I graduated in 1995 from San Diego State University. I was married to an active-duty United States Marine, and I am also a former Marine. We also had 2 young children while I was in nursing school, so I understand the challenges of taking care of a family, often times alone as my husband was deployed out of the country or on a ship somewhere. I continued my graduate nursing studies at the University of Phoenix and Purdue Calumet/Northwest.

My nursing background has been primarily intermediate and critical care, and I spent many years working as a critical care clinical nurse specialist. I have always had a passion for critical care and enjoy the challenges, successes, and opportunities it brings. Currently I teach prelicensure RN students, RN to BSN students, and MSN students. I live in Western Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh which means I am in the EST zone. Please reach out and email me for any support you may need during this course.
