Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)
About the Team
Serving at the pleasure of the Dean of Research, the purpose of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) is to provide assistance and oversight for all Sul Ross State University research activities involving animal participants that fall within its jurisdiction as specified by both federal regulations and institutional policies to ensure best standards and practices. The IACUC meets monthly to review research protocols submitted by students and faculty from all four campuses through the IRBNet organizational website.

The Animal Welfare Act of 1966 mandates that a institutional body be established to designed policies and procedures to foster compliance with applicable regulations, standards and guidelines pertaining to the care and use of live, vertebrate animals in research, research training , teaching and testing activities.
