Yes, SBEC/TEA rules require that we have an official copy of ALL transcripts from ALL colleges or universities that you have attended. Even if you have a graduate degree, we must have official copies of all your undergraduate transcripts.

A paper copy of an official transcript must be received by the Teacher Education Program or the appropriate Graduate Level Certification Program office in an unopened envelope sealed by the university or college.
If the university or college uses a common electronic transcript system, this would be acceptable.
No, submitting an application begins the process of admission to the Teacher Education Program, or any of the graduate level certification programs. All applications and transcripts will be reviewed for eligibility, including required interviews and background checks.
You will need to choose a single content certification area for your initial certification year. Once you have earned your standard certificate, you may add additional certification areas through testing in most cases.
Per TAC 227.1.(b) Educator preparation programs should inform all applicants that: (1) Pursuant to the Texas Education Code (TEC), § 22.083, all candidates must undergo a criminal history background check prior to employment as an educator. If you feel this is a concern and you have questions about eligibility for a Texas educator certificate, TEA staff may perform an evaluation for a non-refundable fee of $50. Currently Sul Ross State University’s school district partners do not offer any paid student teaching positions. Graduate level certification seekers will likely be in paid positions already.
Posted positions will be available off each school district’s website, if you have a specific schools districts in mind. Remember, you teaching certification allows you to teach anywhere in Texas. If you want to look for teaching positions across Texas, visit https://tea.texas.gov/about-tea/other-services/education-service-centers/education-service-centers-map and then find the school district directory on each region’s website.

Candidates with a degree from a foreign institution must have their transcripts evaluated showing the degree earned and grade equivalencies; The Evaluation Company (previously known as SpanTran) is our recommended international transcript evaluation service.
Applicants must also pass the Test of English as a Foreign Language TOEFL iBT. Minimum scores are required on the speaking, listening, reading and writing sections. Contact the Office of Admissions for more information. If you have a degree from a country in which English is the official language, a TOEFL score is NOT required.
