DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

Educational Diagnosticians work to identify and address learning and behavioral issues that affect a student’s ability to succeed in school.

They evaluate students to identify the underlying causes of academic or behavioral difficulties. They are trained to recognize and address common learning disabilities. They create and implement strategies to help students, such as performance plans, instructional interventions, and differentiated teaching methods. They work with teachers, parents, and other professionals to identify a student’s educational needs and evaluate their progress. They provide teachers with knowledge about learning disabilities and teaching strategies to help them differentiate instruction for each student.

The demand for Educational Diagnosticians is expected to grow as schools recognize the importance of early intervention for students with learning disabilities.  If you are ready to take the next step in your career, Sul Ross State University can help get you there as a Texas Education Agency State Board for Educator Certification certified Educational Diagnostician.

Candidates may choose the certification route with a Master’s of Education degree, or for candidates already holding a master’s degree, certification only.
