What is Pack First Professional Development? 
All Sul Ross State University employees are required to obtain 12 hours of professional development credit each calendar year. The Pack First coordinates and provides resources for professional development and provides a system for tracking employee hours. 
Philosophy of Pack First: Employee Professional Development 
Sul Ross State University puts the Pack First in recognizing that employees are its most valuable resource. The University is committed to developing the talents of its employees. We value our employees and understand that continuous learning benefits the University and our students by developing and maintaining employee skills and supporting successful leaders at all levels. This commitment is realized as a shared responsibility between each employee and the University. 
Definition of Professional Development 
Professional Development is a program of activities and events that provides for and contributes to the personal and professional improvement of employees. Professional development opportunities are for all employees on all campuses in all job categories.
Goals of Pack First: Professional Development 
Putting the Pack First will lead to improved faculty and staff retention and better relationships with our students and communities. 
       1. to identify needs and develop resources for promoting personal and professional growth on our campuses. 
       2. to coordinate, promote, and assess professional development at SRSU. 
Achieving the goals of the Pack First Professional Development Plan will create a culture of more engaged and informed employees.
