Purpose
The purpose of the Wellness Committee is to promote a culture and environment that supports the value of individual well-being through education, events, and access to campus facilities and programs. The Committee will be a resource for any concern regarding health and wellness within the campus. The Wellness Committee will bring together advocates to collaborate to create a healthier Sul Ross for everyone.
Mission
Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life. Wellness is more than being free from illness, it is adynames process of change and growth. Wellness programs or wellness plans are a form of health benefit that many employers provide- in on form or another – In addition to health insurance. Having a student/employee wellness plan can help attract and keep good employees because they view it as a benefit they’d like to have at work. But wellness programs also provide benefits to the university morale, productivity and job satisfaction; increase employee retention, cost saving.
- Access campuses and compile data.
- Review programs and coordinate initiatives
- Implement Wellness model incorporated in strategic plan
- Pursue opportunities that may enhance wellness on campus
