Dr. Balcioglu earned his Ph.D. in Security Sciences from the Turkish National Police University, where he focused on police misconduct and crimes. Over the years, he has taught and conducted research at several institutions internationally, including the University of Leicester in the UK, the Berlin School of Economics and Law in Germany, and Gazi University in Turkey.

His research interests include crime, deviance, victimization, and policing. Dr. Balcioglu has published extensively on topics such as police deviance, white-collar crime, domestic violence, and victims’ rights. He has also collaborated on national and international projects, including initiatives by the Turkish government and the Council of Europe.

 

He speaks Turkish, German, and English and enjoys working with students from diverse backgrounds. Since 2022, Dr. Balcioglu has been living in Texas, continuing his work in criminal justice and homeland security education.
