Officer Arturo Alferez III

Officer Alferez grew up in Presidio, Texas. Officer Alferez joined the Army Reserves right after he graduated Marfa ISD High School. Officer Alferez continues serving our country. Officer Alferez started his Law Enforcement Career by joining the H. Joaquin Jackson Police Academy at Sul Ross State University and gained his Texas Peace Officers license. After graduating the police academy, Officer Alferez started his law enforcement at Marfa Police Department as Patrol/ SRO Officer for 2 years. Officer Alferez made his way back to Alpine and has enjoyed being a police officer for Sul Ross State University Police Department. Officer Alferez is currently an ALERRT Level 1 instructor, which allows him to train other officers how to respond to active shooter events. Officer Alferez has also had training in interrogation techniques.
Officer Jack Steiner

Officer Steiner was born in Columbus, Ohio. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati and holds a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice. Officer Steiner began his Law Enforcement career by graduating the Columbus Ohio Police Academy in 2018. Two of his three years in Ohio, Officer Steiner worked at the University of Dayton Police Department, where he earned two commendations. One for recovering three firearms in his first year and another for assisting in solving a $100,000 burglary case from a neighboring jurisdiction. After serving his time in Ohio he transferred to Texas and worked as a Deputy Sheriff for Reeves County Sheriff’s Office. He is enjoying working for Sul Ross State University Police Department. Outside of his professional duties, Officer Steiner enjoys golfing and hiking in his free time.
Officer Kalvin Odom

Originally from Portland, Oregon, Officer Kalvin Odom moved to Alpine in 2022 and quickly developed a strong connection to the community and the surrounding West Texas region. Officer Odom served three years as an Infantryman in the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks, Alaska, gaining valuable experience.
In 2025, Officer Odom graduated from the Sul Ross State University H. Joaquin Jackson Law Enforcement Academy, where he served as Class Sergeant. A passionate outdoors enthusiast, Officer Odom enjoys spending time at the shooting range, hiking, camping, and fishing.
Officer Odom’s future goals include furthering his education through college-level coursework and continuing to serve the Alpine and West Texas communities.
