Chief George was born and raised in Odessa, Texas. He graduated from Permian High School in 1989 and commenced his higher education at Sul Ross State University, where he was inducted into the Alpha Phi Sigma Criminal Justice Honor Society. In 1993, Chief George obtained his undergraduate degree from Southwest Texas State University (Texas State) and embarked on his law enforcement career with the Odessa Police Department.

Chief George’s tenure with the Odessa Police Department encompassed a diverse range of assignments, including emergency communications, street patrol, tactical gang/narcotics unit, covert undercover narcotics investigations with multi-jurisdictional task forces, and field training officer. In 2007, Chief George was recruited to establish and command a criminal investigation division within a rapidly expanding suburban police department in Hutto, Texas.

In 2009, Chief George returned to Ector County, assuming the role of Investigator for the County Attorney’s Office. Elected officials subsequently approached Chief George, requesting his assistance in forming a specialized Environmental Enforcement Unit within Ector County. Chief George accepted this request and spearheaded the creation and command of one of the State of Texas’s most esteemed environmental enforcement units, serving for 13 years.

During his tenure, Chief George pursued a master’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of Texas Permian Basin, with a research focus on the physical fitness of law enforcement officers. Chief George retired in 2022, but his unwavering dedication to the development of law enforcement agencies compelled him to accept the position of Chief of Police for Sul Ross State University.

In this capacity, Chief George oversees the administration and modernization of the Sul Ross State University Police Department and instructs the physical fitness component of the Sul Ross State University H. Joaquin Jackson Law Enforcement Academy. Outside of his professional responsibilities, Chief George enjoys engaging in various recreational activities, such as working out, backpacking, hiking, and shooting.
